Intelligent manufacturing involves creative problem-solving techniques being applied to various manufacturing processes to produce any specific components required to build a product or a functional system at any scale. Any physical component would benefit from a good design and broad knowledge of manufacturing processes to achieve high demand while keeping the production cost low without compromising on the quality of the product. This minor provides the foundation for future engineers to create new products, technologies and automation techniques catering to the demands of the fast-paced world.

Availability
The intelligent manufacturing minor is available only to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (E3001) in Malaysia, specialising in Electrical and computer systems engineering, Mechanical engineering or Robotics and mechatronics engineering (AI or Automation stream).

The minor is not available to the Chemical engineering, Civil engineering and Software engineering specialisations.
