Overview

This unit aims to develop your financial modelling skills using Excel. Topics include the development and application of financial spreadsheets, data and sensitivity analysis, portfolio optimisation, and financial models. The subject will also introduce you to Visual Basic programming in financial modelling.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.

introduce the concept and principles of financial modelling and develop the skill set required

2.

use Excel to effectively model financial problems and handle financial data

3.

apply critical thinking, problem solving and presentation skills to individual and/or group activities dealing with modelling in finance and demonstrate in an individual summative assessment task the acquisition of a comprehensive understanding of the topics covered in BFF5936.
