On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:

Contextualise to social work practice, contemporary debates about life transitions with a focus on ageing.
2.
Critically evaluate concepts of ageing and longevity using dimensions such as culture, gender, class, time, space and place.
3.
Assess the relevance of current and emerging theories of ageing to social work practice.
4.
Critically analyse the notion of risk and its implications for social work practice in aged care.
5.
Examine relevant social work policy and practice issues and their impact upon the ageing population.
