Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.
Discern basic noise measurement quantities such as sound pressure levels, sound power levels and sound intensity levels.
2.
Describe and predict the propagation of sound in a duct and in free space.
3.
Describe the fundamentals of reactive noise attenuation devices.
4.
Predict and measure the transmission loss through various materials.
5.
Select appropriate treatments to meet the room requirements based on direct and reverberant noise fields.
6.
Synthesise concepts of noise sources, paths and measurements in the determination of environmental noise impacts.
