Overview

In this unit you will be introduced to general pathology, that is the molecular and cellular mechanisms of human disease, their classification, and the process of progression. You will study a broad range of topics including cellular pathology and inflammation, immunopathology and infectious disease, neoplasia, blood disorders, haemodynamic disorders, obesity … For more content click the Read More button below.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.

Explain the pathological processes involved in the development of diseases, including the impact of acute and chronic stimuli on normal tissue function;

2.

Identify and distinguish between the various molecular, cellular and tissue changes associated with disease pathogenesis;

3.

Interpret pathology based data to differentiate between the different disease processes;

4.

Evaluate diagnostic tools for their potential to differentiate between disease processes;

5.

Research and interpret evidence-based pathology in order to communicate the processes driving disease.
