Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.

comprehend and respond to standard written and spoken Japanese media sources;

2.

perform textual analysis and summaries of complex written passages, demonstrating recognition and use
of 800 kyōiku kanji including 150 additional kanji frequently used in the media;

3.

competently communicate orally and textually on a variety of topics using appropriate speech styles in both spontaneously and prepared settings;

4.

 employ sophisticated research and critical thinking skills in analysis of aspects of Japanese culture and society.
