On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:

Critically analyse the major campaigns, events, key figures and significant socio-political issues in Mao’s China;

2.

Evaluate current scholarship and research methodologies of empirical and theoretical studies about Mao’s China, with specific reference to historical, political, and sociological perspectives;

3.

Apply innovative approaches to analyse and present historical viewpoints based on secondary literature and respond to comments and questions in discussion;

4.

Conduct analytical and critical thinking and present arguments within a logical framework based on original materials and secondary literature;

5.

Use library and web-based research skills.
