Overview
Knowledge and understanding of accounting is an essential requirement for successful management. The wide range of units offered by the Department of Accounting caters for aspirants seeking success in the accounting profession and also others, majoring in related disciplines, seeking to be competent users of accounting reports.
The major includes units that concentrate attention on the preparation and audit of financial reports for managers, owners and other interested parties. Validated and effective financial reports enable performance measurement and control of individuals, teams, corporations, non-government organisations, governments and other entities.

Availability
Accounting is offered in B2001 Bachelor of Commerce at Clayton and in B2000 Bachelor of Business at Caulfield as a major and minor.

Note: If you are seeking professional accounting accreditation, you will need to complete specified units in addition to the requirements of the accounting major. Information regarding unit selection for accreditation is outlined below.
If you are studying the Bachelor of Business, you must enrol in the units listed for the Bachelor of Business major at the Caulfield campus, except if these are offered in Winter or Summer.
Double degree with another faculty: Please note, if you are completing the Accounting major as part of your double degree, ECX2953 is required for professional accreditation and can be completed in Part A instead of ECF1100, and you will not be required to complete ECC1100.
