Overview
In this unit you will explore the study of music in different cultural contexts. You will investigate culturally-specific approaches to performance, composition, music technology and ethnomusicology/musicology in their environments. You will focus on a reflective approach to the integration of diverse traditions of music into individual creative and research activity.

- The unit has a domestic field trip component and may incur an additional cost.
- Bachelor of Music students must have prior approval from The unit coordinator prior to enrolment.
- Non-Bachelor of Music students may be required to audition, submit a folio of compositions or written work according to course requirements prior to enrolment if they cannot provide other evidence of musical proficiency level of AMEB Grade 7 or equivalent.
