This unit introduces the concepts of finance, financial mathematics, valuation, the financial system, risk management and inter-dependency between finance and other business disciplines. The unit is designed for students who have never studied finance before.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.

demonstrate financial literacy skills in a range of personal financial situations in order to make informed decisions that maximise financial well-being and manage financial risk

2.

apply core concepts of finance to real-life industry problems and financial literacy scenarios in preparation for additional study in the discipline

3.

use Microsoft Excel to design solutions for financial business problems commonly encountered by graduate employees in Finance and for personal financial planning

4.

demonstrate the professional skills of teamwork, collaboration and communication in preparation for working in business and workplace meetings.
