On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:

recognise an additional 500 Chinese characters;
2.
write an additional 500 Chinese characters;
3.
understand the basic syntax system of Modern Standard Chinese and explain the similarities between it and English;
4.
read simple modern vernacular texts using the necessary comprehension skills;
5.
use basic Chinese word processing skills;
6.
demonstrate oral proficiency approximate to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages A2;
7.
explain Chinese society, its values and their evolution.
