Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.

Critically discuss the communication styles that are used in the health care and disability sectors.

2.

Describe communication theory and its application in the health care system within Australia outlining its interface with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework.

3.

Describe and apply the different tools which are used to illustrate and summarise communication styles.

4.

Describe the influence of your own communication experiences and the relationship to your development needs in providing person-centre care when working with people who have lived experience of disability.

5.

Demonstrate the application of conceptual and technical skills in diverse communication styles.

6.

Discuss and apply the principles of cultural safety and inclusivity within written, verbal and social health communications.
