Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.

Identify relevant legislative, ethical, and health policy considerations when working with children, youth, and families.

2.

Apply knowledge of intrapersonal, interpersonal, and social-cultural factors in child and youth mental health to risk management and intervention planning.

3.

Apply a collaborative care approach when working with other family-facing professionals to support families for child and youth mental health.

4.

Demonstrate skills in reflective practice and the provision of evidence-based parenting support to simulated parent-clients for their child’s mental health

5.

Demonstrate adaptability in communication, rapport building and cultural responsiveness for safe practice in preventive and community settings for child and youth mental health.

Assessment in this unit includes hurdle assessment tasks. Failure of any hurdle assessment task may result in failure of the unit.

1 - Case study with short answer responses (1,500 words)
2 - Skills demonstration: role-play providing parent support (8 - 10 min pre-recorded video)
3 - Reflection on skills demonstration (1,200 words)
