Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.

Reflect on your own values and assumptions regarding health and well-being and apply basic ethical principles to health situations.

2.

Explain the influence of diverse definitions, concepts and interpretations of health and well-being on health care.

3.

Compare and contrast various health models and outline basic health promotion principles.

4.

Identify the various determinants of health and describe how these affect health care provision and create inequalities in health.

5.

Discuss key global health issues, including climate change and their impact on health.

6.

Discuss the history, diversity and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (including the impact of colonisation on their health) and apply appropriate communication techniques with clients from this background.
