Learning outcomes
compare and contrast specific types of financial institutions, instruments and markets in order to explain the distinctions between their operations, usage and regulation
critically evaluate the assumptions and conventional wisdom relating to the term structure of interest rates and foreign exchange rates
develop academic skills by accessing electronic data sources and hard copy references to evaluate a case study assignment
develop an ability to work in a team by requiring syndicates to submit written solutions to assigned case studies, and thereby demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills and develop a team orientated approach to work effectively as a team member to produce a professional quality business document solving financial institution related issues
demonstrate in an individual summative assessment task the acquisition of a comprehensive understanding of the components and functioning of capital markets in an open economy as exemplified by the unit.
