Econometrics uses statistical data and methods to quantify and validate economic relationships, with a view to informing and guiding economic decisions and policy making. This major will provide you with training in the mathematical and statistical foundations of the discipline. This training will enable you to understand the properties of the econometric methods that underlie applied work, and to make empirically relevant methodological and theoretical contributions to the field. Compulsory units in the foundational content are complemented by elective units in computational mathematics, real analysis, mathematical economics and mathematical field.

Note: You will not need to complete ETC2520 if you are enrolled in the double degree, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science, and undertaking the Mathematical statistics major. In order to achieve the required credit points you must select any level 2 unit from the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics or the School of Mathematical Sciences.
