Overview

This unit focuses largely on applications of applied behaviour analysis with individuals who display behaviours of concern. In this unit, we will explore a comprehensive, function-based approach to the assessment and treatment of behaviours of concern. You will learn to design and analyse the results of indirect assessments, descriptive assessments, and functional analyses, and to integrate assessment information with client goals, preferences, supporting environments, risks, constraints, and social validity to design, deliver, and monitor the effectiveness of a function-based, skill-based behaviour support plan. We will also review strategies for promoting maintenance and generalisation of behaviour change, with an emphasis on facilitating the social inclusion of our learners. This unit primarily aligns with sections 2F, 2G, and 2H of the BACBs 5th Edition task list.

Minimum total expected workload equals 144 hours per semester comprising:

a. Contact hours for flexible students:

12 contact hours and 33 hours equivalent of online activities over the semester or
45 hours equivalent of online activities over the semester*

b. Additional requirements (all students):

independent study to meet the minimum required hours per semester

*International students studying in Australia are not permitted to undertake this contact hour delivery mode.
