Materials engineering is all about making new materials and improving existing ones - making things stronger, lighter, more functional, sustainable and cost-effective. You will acquire skills, knowledge and experience relating to traditional and emerging materials across a range of classes including metals, ceramics and polymers. This will involve characterisation, analysis and creation of materials with regard to their structural, functional, chemical/biological and other important properties. The course will consider such materials and processes in the context of the sustainability of the materials life-cycle, with particular focus on materials design and professional skills.
