Civil engineers design, construct, maintain and operate infrastructure for the benefit of society. You will acquire skills, knowledge and experience in mechanics; transport, traffic and road engineering; building structures and technology; design of concrete and masonry structures; bridge design and assessment; geomechanics; and hydrology.

You must satisfy the continuous professional development or industrial training required to complete the course. See ENG0001 (for Clayton) or ENG0002 (for Malaysia).

Part E. Elective study - Specialisation36 credit points

Studying the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) single degree36 credit points

Electives must be completed at the unit level required to satisfy the course requirements. You must complete a total of 36 credit points of engineering elective study. 12 credit points must be at levels 2 or 3 and 24 credit points must be at levels 3 and 4 or 5 from the engineering technical electives list below. If you have completed two electives in Year 1 in a non-engineering minor in a discipline from another faculty that is approved by the Faculty of Engineering, you may want to use the 12 credit points at level 2 to complete the non-engineering minor, or choose from the civil engineering technical electives list. If you are studying the course at the Clayton campus in Australia, you are encouraged to take up the opportunity to pursue a minor in an engineering discipline that complements your engineering specialisation.

Studying in Clayton: You may consider other engineering technical units chosen from the engineering minors, subject to meeting the unit prerequisite and/or co-requisite rules. Studying in Malaysia: You may consider other engineering technical units with approval from the School of Engineering and subject to meeting the unit prerequisite and/or co-requisite rules. NOTE: To enrol in a level 5 unit listed below, you must obtain a weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 or above at the conclusion of level 3 and be in your final year.
